4-day Bespoke Tour
We recently put together a 4-day private tour for 5 friends from Switzerland. It was their first time in Scotland and they wanted to visit Edinburgh and a some other places but they didn't know where.
The group told us they wanted a mixture of town and countryside with some active walking, lunch in nice places, to visit a castle and any interesting places we could recommend. Two of the group wanted to visit a whisky distillery but the other three where not so keen.
THE TOUR - Edinburgh days
We spent two days in Edinburgh doing a guided photography walking tour, a visit to a hidden castle, a walk up an extinct volcano with a ranger and a stop to make shortbread. The group wanted to try haggis, so on one of the day we had lunch at classic restaurant in the Old Town to introduce them to our national dish!
The group had two English classes in our partner school, ECS Scotland, and mini correction sessions and vocabulary building throughout the two days. They got plenty of listening practice while learning how to make shortbread and speaking practice with the park ranger.
THE TOUR - outside Edinburgh
The other days were spent in Perthshire and the Borders. The two who wanted to visit a distillery got the chance for a tour and a dram whilst the others visited a castle with a spectacular garden and views. We visited a woollen mill with a cashmere shop and fantastic cafe. The guided stopped several times for scenic photo stops en-route.
English lessons took place in the cafes and restaurants we stopped in as well as ongoing correction and pronunciation throughout the days.
It was a great way to see Scotland and speak English. The teacher made sure we spoke English to each other, it was the motivation we needed!
